Rev. Dr. Betsy Waters is an intentional interim minister in the United Church of Christ, a Parish Consultant in the United Methodist Church, and an independent church consultant, coach, and workshop leader. She is a passionate advocate for the revitalizing of churches, having worked in the field for thirty years. Trained in educational psychology, teaching, organizational development, parish ministry, and preaching, she brings a broad perspective and an array of tools to transformation work within churches. She holds advanced degrees from the University of Massachusetts, Andover Newton Theological School, and Chicago Theological Seminary. Rev. Betsy Waters is a creative, passionate and experienced guide in this season of change. This leadership takes different forms - coaching, facilitation, consultation, short term intentional interim work, single time workshops, short courses either in person or on line, and leading clergy groups. Participants report being energized in working with her, and develop new skills and perspectives that carry them forward. Rev. Betsy has been consulting with mainline congregations for thirty years, applying a progressive theology that is customized to the congregation and community. She walks with you and your congregational leadership teams as the participants identify the congregation’s strengths and weaknesses, imagine new ways to be the Body of Christ in your neighborhood, and discover a way forward in your shared faith journey. Listening is key: listening to each other, to neighbors, to ideas drawn from outside the congregation, and to the Holy Spirit. Check out the resources tab to stir your imagination.
